I liked a tweet by Pope Francis when he said ‘to be friends with God means praying with simplicity, like children talking to their parents’. Indeed God is a Father and we should be talking and engaging with him like a child would or should to a father. When a CEO of a company walks into an elevator, an employee feels so uncomfortable to be in the same space with the CEO and wants to walk out and catch the next elevator. The same happens when the President of a country walks into the elevator. However, in the President’s case, security asks you to get out because the President wants to use the elevator. God is not a Father to be feared. He wants to travel with us in the elevator to the next floor. He wants to listen to what we have to say; our stories, our appeals and our not so funny jokes; he listens. He gives us the right advice because he has listened to every word that we verbalise to him or thought to him. He is our Father; let’s talk to him with simplicity.
